Michael P. happened to be in the Woodfield Mall store when I came in to pick up merchandise I had called about and placed on hold. When I got to the store, some of the merchandise wasn't there as promised and without hesitation he jumped in to solve the problem to my satisfaction by having the remaining merchandise sent to me from another store overnight. He exceeded my expecations by calling to provide the fedex tracking number for the shipment and calling to make sure the merchandise arrived. What a great asset for American Apparel!!!
Your Models
September 19, 2009 - Lee, Advertising
I am super excited to be sending this email. I have been meaning to reach you guys for a couple years now. Finally I get to do it! So....How can I put this? I just wanted to thank you guys. I want to thank you for using *REAL LIFE* models in your ads. They are beautiful girls. I cannot tell you guys how much it hurts to see other companies use stick-thin, underweight models to show off their clothes. It disgusts me...because guess what? The REAL woman do not look like that when they put on your clothes. But American Apparel...you guys are totally different. You represent AMERICA. The diverse, beautiful, simple, and confident country that we are. Your female models represent real woman with real bodies. I love shopping at American Apparel and finding ways to express myself via your fabulous stuff. And the fact that you guys use these real-life models just validates my consumer choices. Thanks for being you-please never change. You guys are doing a fabulous job.
Great Service in Nottingham
September 16, 2009 - Pam, Stores
We visited Nottingham store last Saturday. We may have been the first customers when the store opened. I bought 2 pairs of leggings, black RSA8366 (no white!!!!) and white RSA8329. The lad who showed me round was extremely pleasant and was well mannered. We are in our early 60s and don't usually get treated like that in a 'young' store. We had not visited Nottingham before and he gave us a few tips on the town before we left. The girl who tried to find me a sweatshirt (unisex arms are too long) was also very pleasant as well.
Thank you!

Standing up against hate/intolerance
July 24, 2009 - Bonnie, Company
Dear AA,
I would like to say on behalf of all those around the world who believe in equality, thank you for your stand against the hate and intolerance of the recent attack on one of your stores.

The individual(s) who vandalized the store because of the window display for LGBT support are nothing more than bigots and cowards.

I have spread the word in our community of your strong support against hate.

Being a strong advocate and someone who is very involved in LGBT issues, I have recently created a free worldwide gay resources toolbar as my way of giving back to our community - http://lgbtminute.ourtoolbar.com and am currently running a small news note of the incident regarding your store on the ticker.

Seen by thousands around the world!

Again, thank you for taking a stand.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Legalize Gay shirts
July 23, 2009 - Kate, Company
My name is Kate, and I'm the Press Secretary at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (the RAC). We're the advocacy branch of the Union for Reform Judaism, the largest organized branch of Judaism in North America, and we represent more than 900 congregations and more than 1.5 million Reform Jews.

The Reform Movement has long been committed to equality for LGBT individuals and same-sex couples. Our staff marched in the Capitol Pride Parade last month - the only Jewish group to march! - and we lobby Congress on issues like the hate crimes bill, the Employment Nondiscrimination Act, immigration legislation that protects same-sex couples and a host of other LGBT-friendly topics. (For a list of topics we work on & our recent press releases on LGBT-related issues, visit http://rac.org/advocacy/issues/issuegl/.)

We're so happy that American Apparel is fighting back against the vandals who destroyed your Legalize Gay display, and if the offer still stands to outfit LGBT advocacy groups with t-shirts, we'd love for you to consider making us recipients. We'll have a blog post up soon about American Apparel's decision not to back down, which I can send to you when it goes up. We'd also be happy to be a part of any future advocacy work you guys are involved in for LGBT rights that you need allies on.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, and thanks again for all of your work.

Best,
Kate

Vandalism and "Legalize Gay"
July 22, 2009 - Mike, Company
I just wanted to take the time to send a call-out to all of you at American Apparel for not caving into the vandalism that has taken place at some of your stores in the United States as a result of putting your "Legalize Gay" T-Shirts in the display window.

As a proud, openly-gay male, I can't tell you how much it means to me, and I'd like to think the entire community, that you are tackling this issue head-on. I was absolutely shocked when I saw the Uptown, Minneapolis location proudly (and colorfully!) displaying these T-Shirts in their store window. When I heard about the recent vandalism to some D.C. area stores, I was disappointed to hear they caved and changed the window displays. But no sooner had I read that, then I saw an Update which informed me American Apparel would continue to display the Legalize Gay T-Shirts in the store windows. My heart swelled, honestly.

Too often as a society, we don't take the time to give credit where it is due, and insist upon highlighting the negative. I just wanted to thank you for continuing to display these T-Shirts in the vandalized stores (Silver Spring/Georgetown, D.C. area). In an era that seems content with marginalizing people for their differences, it is refreshing and profoundly encouraging that you support ALL people. To me, that's what being American is all about.

So thank you, American Apparel: you have earned yourself a customer for life.
Online shopping made easy!
July 8, 2009 - Debbi, Web Site
I love American Apparel but the nearest store is an hours drive away so thank you for making online shopping, returns and exchanges so fast and easy. I never have to worry about delays or problems with my order because there is no fuss made about returning items and i can exchange them without having to wait for my money back and placing a whole different order like i would with other retailers. Thank you for making your clothes so amazing, and buying them so stress free.
